As you can see on my blog, I've recently become abnormally obsessed with color. It's not even healthy ladies. I want to dye my hair so BAD!! But I know I'm not the only one out there. Women with curly black hair ( more specifically in the 3C- 4C category) have been fascinated with color for years- especially since pastels became so popular-but, they might have bought into the myth that we can't dye our hair because of ...the economy? All those beautiful rainbow curls might cause global warming or something? Well the point is there should be nothing stopping us, and if we do it right we could kill the show.
Below, I've compiled a list of some of the most stunning uses of color I have ever seen. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and, maybe, it might inspire you to do a little something for the summer- despite what the economy is telling you.
Enjoy loves!

Haven't you heard? Gray and silver is the new black.

Also, If you are interested in dying your hair this summer and you want to read a cool article about pastel hair colors, here's a link. I hope this post was useful for you, or at least entertaining ( because it was fun to put together, ha!)

Hey Guys,
So I would like to officially apologize for all of the construction going on with my blog. The template and the overall code for the website has been glitchy, and personally I like the format of this webpage better. It's just that the page has been stressing me OUT and hopefully this is the last week something like this week goes down.

Thanks for being patient, you ladies give me life! I will have more posts coming up by the beginning of this week. Also, ( as a side note) I will have my author page back up and the menu fixed. This page has been all sorts of crazy but the content will remain faithful. TRUST.

So, I did a little research for this blog post and took a poll from my naturally curl endowed beauties on the street to figure out the "goods" and "bads" of co-washing!I co-wash my hair pretty irregularly so I figured I'd need help to write this post and what I learned was pretty surprising. Co-washing doesn't have that many negatives and if you're curly its much better for your hair that the typical shampoo and conditioning, but nonetheless this a confessions post so these are the things you don't typically hear about but would LOVE to know!

#1.) THE CO-WASH MATTERS

There are many products out there promising you the luscious mane of a goddess but in reality leave your hair either weighed down and oily or dry and brittle. Do not let that be you! Some co-washes I would recommend would be:

-As I Am Cocunut Co Wash Cleansing Conditioner
- Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus
- Cowashing Cleansing and Conditioner

#2.) YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH USING IT AS A SUBSTITUTE TWO OR THREE TIMES BUT...

After a while you must wash your hair, there's no avoiding it but when shampooing focus on shampoos that do not include sulfates because it could reverse the effects of the co-wash.

#3.) FOLLOWING UP NEVER HURTS

Use coconut oil PLEASE!! its the best for your hair, will moisturize it and will not weigh it down!!

So, with the warming weather and your beautiful curly mane you might have thought "Hey, I've heard about this new cool anti-frizz straightening hair thing and I might want to check out straightening my hair and wearing it down in the city". * audible gasp from the crowd*
ONE, heat isn't of the devil we can straighten our curls from time to time- beauty doesn't have just one look,
And TWO If you've heard about Keratin Smoothing Treatments you might want to check it out because it is a new cool anti-frizz straightening hair thing!

HERE'S THE DEAL:

Sure New York City is, in one word, sweltering over the summer and the humidity could curl the hair off an elephant's back but if you don't want to rock your curls for the whole summer and instead want a little variety, this hair treatment is the thing for you. Especially if you're in college.

A keratin hair treatment coats the hair from root to tip in protein and the process does not need to be done in a hair salon, you can do it in your dorm room or your home. When it does this it makes your hair easier to straighten in the future and also rejuvenates your hair while its on it, giving it a smoother texture and making it 10x more easier to manage. It also, since the hair is coated in protein, becomes more resilient towards humidity and will stay straight as you literally walk through fog (I'm not exaggerating. The first few days I felt immortal).

Now I don't do product reviews on products I haven't tried myself and I don't get paid to write these reviews so this is written from both research and experience. Let's be honest, if you're skeptical you have every right to be. It sounds like a perm and it requires a lot of heat to get the protein to meld onto your hair, and even if it did it seems like your hair would be a lot heavier or your curl pattern would be ruined.

But it works and it keeps working for about two months!!
You heard me.

The product I used was ION Keratin Smoothing Hair Treatment and I used it last summer. You're hair will be flawless and it will grow as long as you don't forget to moisturize your scalp instead of the strands and use non-sulfate shampoos and conditioners. The heat protectant for the product line is one I also strongly recommend. The smoothing treatment maintains your curl pattern while completely straightening your hair ( and believe me, it will be SCARY straight. I have 4c hair).

I recommend everyone try this, even those with 2a or 3a curls because it makes your hair so much healthier and stronger and even helps renew it from color and heat damage.

So, determining your curl pattern if you have curly hair is the first step to taking care of your hair, whether it is in a protective style or simply blowing in the wind. I know that all the “4C, 3F, 9JYL” jargon can get hard to understand so I’ve dedicated a post to breaking it all down in simple easy to understand language. I’ve even included pictures!

THERE ARE FOUR TYPES OF CURLY HAIR (2, 3, 4):

(TYPE 1 Hair is assumed to be straight)
TYPE 2: WAVY HAIR

Think more beach waves than curly when you picture this hair type. Maintaining curls for this curl pattern can be difficult due to the fact that heat damage, dehydration, and other stress on the hair can straighten out your culrs.
2A: The hair tends to be slightly “S”-shaped.
2B: The hair is “S”- shaped but curls closer to the scalp and sticks closer to the head.
2C: Hair curls closer to the scalp and remains loosely curled to the ends.

TYPE 3: CURLY HAIR
3A: This curly hair pattern has more of a loopy consistency with a the “S”-pattern. These curls are tighter than 2C’s because the curls usually have a circumference the size of two fingers put together.
3B: This pattern tends to have thicker hair and curls that are stretched at the root so the hair resembles a wavier pattern until the end where the curl is definite and tighter (think the size of a pen or marker). This curly hair pattern tends to be heavier.
3C: This curl pattern resembles the circumference of a pencil and tighter waves from root to tip. It tends to get frizzier than all other curl patterns.

TYPE 4: THE KINKY CURLY HAIR
4A: This hair pattern tends to be tightly coiled with an “S” pattern but its curl pattern is easily visible in comparison to 4B’s and 4C’s. This hair type is highly dense.
4B: This hair pattern has a “Z” pattern and the hair bends in sharp angles. The hair can be described as wiry and coarse and also experience shrinkage between 70-75%.

4C: This hair type will never clump without styling products and ranges between thin and coarse strands. There is less definition and the hair is dense, experiencing shrinkage from 75%-80%
